The battle at Fort Donelson took place in Stewart County Tennessee Between February 13-16, 1862. It was a union victory commanded by Brig. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant future president of the United States. After the battle the union took over southern Kentucky and much of middle and west Tennessee. About 40,000 troops fight and about 16,000 casualties after the battle.
